Government taking anti-people decisions but is kind to liquor contractors: BJP

BJP state president Rajeev Bindal today flayed the state government for allegedly taking anti-people decisions while exhibiting magnanimity to liquor contractors.

Bindal, while addressing mediapersons here, said, “The Congress government is not here to serve people but to trouble them. It is lamentable that the state government is kind to liquor contractors and wherever you go, luxurious vends have been opened on the land of national highways or the government.”

He said, “Instead of providing jobs to the youth, the state government has given a go-ahead to the sale of lotteries. People will suffer losses by falling into its vicious trap,” he added.

Bindal, who earlier met the newly appointed office-bearers, said, “The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government is reeling under a heavy debt. After taking a record loan of Rs 37,739 crore in three years, the Congress government is heading towards a debt of Rs 45,000 crore.”

He reminded people that “at present, Himachal Pradesh has a debt of more than Rs 1 lakh crore” and asked the government where the loan amount had been spent? He said that common people were being burdened with taxes and anti-people policies like the closure of more than 2,000 schools, PWD, IPH, revenue offices. “Development has come to a standstill and so has subsidy in the transport corporation and electricity bills while the stamp duty has been enhanced by 600 per cent and a tax of Rs 7.50 per litre has been imposed on diesel,” he added.

Bindal accused the government of luring people with 10 guarantees during campaigning for the 2022 Assembly elections but forgetting all their electoral promises.
