J&K Police attach properties of two terrorists in Anantnag, Baramulla

In a significant move to dismantle terror networks and their support structures in Jammu and Kashmir, police authorities have attached properties belonging to two terrorists in the districts of Anantnag and Baramulla.

The Srinagar Police announced the attachment of orchard land valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, located at Bandi Payeen in Baramulla district. The property belongs to Asif Maqbool Dar, a man designated as a terrorist by the Union Home Ministry. Investigations revealed that although the orchard is formally registered in the name of his father, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Asif Maqbool Dar was an active stakeholder and was currently operating from across the border. Dar has been involved in facilitating terrorism, spreading anti-national propaganda, and inciting disaffection against the government through various social media platforms for several years.

“Proceedings were initiated under Section 25 of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to attach property used or intended to be used for terrorist activities. The action is connected to a case registered at Police Station Parimpora, and was carried out in the presence of the concerned Executive Magistrate,” said a police spokesperson.

Srinagar Police described this as part of a larger ongoing strategy to disrupt the financial, logistical, and operational ecosystems of terror networks and their cross-border sponsors. “This decisive action is intended to send a clear and strong message—those engaged in anti-national and terror-related activities will face strict legal consequences, including forfeiture of their assets,” he added.

In South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police have attached immovable property belonging to active terrorist Adil Hussain Thoker. The land, located in the Guree area of Bijbehara, has been seized under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in connection with an FIR registered under various sections of the UAPA and the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance (EIMCO) Act.

The Anantnag Police stated that this attachment is part of lawful measures aimed at dismantling the support structure of terrorism in the district. Thoker has been identified as an active terrorist, and this crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to target individuals involved in unlawful and anti-national activities. Earlier this year, Thoker’s house was destroyed in a blast when explosives, believed to be stored inside, detonated during a security forces’ search operation.

Over the past several months, Jammu and Kashmir authorities have been actively attaching properties linked to terrorists and their associates in both Kashmir and Jammu regions as part of a robust approach to combat terrorism.
