Relief for Abbas Ansari in hate speech case: Allahabad HC quashes ex-MLA's conviction; restores assembly membership

Abbas Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari, gets relief from the Allahabad High Court. The court overturned his conviction in a 2022 hate speech case. A special MP/MLA court previously sentenced him to two years in jail. The case stemmed from a speech during the 2022 election campaign. Ansari allegedly threatened government officials. He won the election from the Mau constituency.
