Tribune impact: Dist admn takes stock of poor drainage, subsidence threat

The district administration today inspected an abandoned house, which is posing a risk of collapsing onto houses below, at Sudher near Dharamasala.

A representation had met Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa yesterday and the issue was also highlighted by The Tribune.

The DC instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) to find an immediate and durable solution to the poor drainage system, which has triggered sinking and landslide in the area.

He also instructed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to deal with the problem of faulty drainage in consultation with the PWD so that traffic movement is not disrupted.

The DC was accompanied by Dharamsala Municipal Corporation Commissioner, SDM and Executive Engineers. They took the stock of the situation on ground zero as the threat of a landslide looms large due to heavy monsoon rains this year.

The DC also inspected ropeway pillar number 5, which was exposed by a landslide yesterday.

The pillar is situated above Clouds End Villa, the residence of former Union minister Chandresh Kumari.
