‘Railways include Udhampur in ticketing programme’

JAMMU, Aug 21: There is good news for the people of Udhampur as Airport in the area will start operating civilian flights in very near future. Union Minister in PMO with Independent Charge of Science and Technology and Earth Science Ministries, Dr Jitendra Singh said on X.
He further said that the arrangements in this regard are being finalised with concerned.
The Minister further wrote, “At our request, the Udhampur Railway Station was named after martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan” (MCTM , a brave son of the soil. This decision once again reiterated the high priority that PM Narendra Modi accords to this region. However by default, the name of the destination “Udhampur” was missed out in the computerised ticketing programme , but I am glad to share that with the personal intervention of Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw , the process of correcting this error has been initiated and shall be accomplished soon with Udhampur being mentioned with the ticketing process, the Minister further said on X.
He said as the Railway Minister promised in the morning to set the same right and it was done by the afternoon.
Earlier senior political leader from Udhampur called on Dr Jitendra Singh and submitted a memorandum to him addressed to Union Railway Minister demanding that the name of Udhampur be included in Railway Station as MCTM Udhampur. He said while the people of Udhampur respect the Government decision of naming Udhampur Railway Station as MCTM but the name Udhampur was inadvertently erased which may be set right.
