Electric Air Taxi: Flying taxis will soon be seen in the air, American company completed test flight, made a record

America’s Archer Aviation successfully tested an electric air taxi. This aircraft named Midnight covered a distance of 88.5 km in 31 minutes. This is the company’s longest flight. The company is now planning to get FAA certification and start air taxi service in UAE.

Electric Air Taxi: A US company named Archer Aviation has achieved another major success in the field of electric aviation. The company is working on air taxis, that is, taxis that fly in the air, and may soon start air taxis. For this, the company tested one of its electric air taxis, that is, aircraft. The company has been successful in this test and the aircraft set a new record. The company has announced that its flagship eVTOL aircraft Midnight has completed its longest piloted flight to date. This achievement has been achieved when the company has been starting piloted test flights for only two months.

New record of long flight

This test flight took place in Salinas, California, where most of the company’s tests are conducted. This aircraft flew for 31 minutes and covered a distance of 55 miles (about 88.5 kilometers). This is the longest flight of the Archer company so far, which shows both the range and reliability of Midnight’s design. Archer is a leading player in the eVTOL industry and aims to launch air taxi services in the future.

Testing speed and performance

This test flight focused on the aircraft’s CTOL (Conventional Takeoff and Landing) mode. Although the Midnight can also perform VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing), Archer wanted to see how it performs in normal runway operations. According to the company, the aircraft performed completely successfully in this mission.

During this flight, Midnight achieved a top speed of 126 miles per hour (about 202 km/h). The company also said that in other recent flights, this aircraft had achieved a higher speed of 150 miles per hour (about 241 km/h) in different flight patterns. This shows that the aircraft is getting ready for full operation.

United Airlines and Archer Aviation celebrated

United Airlines, which is a big supporter of Archer, CFO Mike Leskinen was present during this historic flight. He praised this achievement and the operation of the aircraft, which is a big advantage for air taxi service in cities. Archer founder and CEO Adam Goldstein also spoke on this success. He said that “crossing the 50-mile mark is another big step towards commercial use, which shows the maturity of our program.”

FAA certification and launch in UAE

Archer’s next goal is to get certification from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and prepare for initial commercial operations abroad. The company has already planned to start passenger flights in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company may soon start air taxis there.
