Powerful earthquake hits Drake Passage near South America; no tsunami warning issued

A powerful earthquake struck the Drake Passage region, a waterbody located between South America and Antarctica, on Friday, said the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Earlier, the intensity of the earthquake was expected to be around magnitude 8, but the USGS later downgraded it to magnitude 7.5.
