J&K Bank donates five e-Carts to KU for green campus drive

SRINAGAR, Aug 22: J&K Bank today handed over five battery-operated e-Carts to the University of Kashmir (KU) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to support the institution’s Green Campus Initiative.
At a brief function held at the university campus, the Bank’s Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad handed over the keys of the eco-friendly vehicles to Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan in the presence of senior faculty members and bank officials.
Prof Khan described the move as a major step towards reducing the carbon footprint on the campus, adding that the e-Carts will especially benefit female students and specially-abled persons.
She lauded the bank’s long-standing support to the university and urged it to also focus on projects that benefit students from weaker economic backgrounds.
Speaking on the occasion, J&K Bank Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad said the bank, as J&K’s premier financial institution, is committed to promoting sustainability and community welfare.
He said the partnership with the university reflects a shared vision of building greener and healthier campuses.
Of the five e-Carts, three will be used in the university’s main campus, while two will operate at its Institute of Technology in Zakura.
The university administration thanked J&K Bank for the gesture and described the initiative as a model of responsible CSR in the Union Territory.
