WATCH: CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad picks best wicket-keeper in India, he is not MS Dhoni or Rishabh Pant, his name is…
New Delhi: After Maharashtra’s first match in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad interacted with children from Tamil Nadu. During this interaction, when he was asked who is the best wicketkeeper in India, he surprised everyone by mentioning his own name, leaving behind his IPL teammate MS Dhoni and India’s premier stumper Rishabh Pant.
Who is India’s best wicketkeeper?
Ruturaj said, “You haven’t seen my wicketkeeping? You must watch. Go to YouTube. Watch me wicketkeeping instead of watching Shoaib Akhtar.” This statement made the children and the people present laugh and also surprised them a bit.
Which bowler was the toughest?
Gaikwad was also asked which bowler he considered the toughest to face. Ruturaj named blue bowler Trent Boult. Boult played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 and 2021, and was part of Rajasthan Royals from 2022 to 2024. He was again bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 12.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction and lived up to expectations by taking 22 wickets in 16 matches this year.
Fun with children
While interacting with the children, Ruturaj also had some light fun. When he asked the children which IPL team they liked, everyone said in unison, “CSK, CSK!” But when Ruturaj asked, “Do you like any other team?”, some named RCB and Mumbai Indians. To this, Ruturaj said, “Out, out! Whoever supports other teams, their name will be remembered and they will not be able to play in CSK in IPL.”
Gaikwad’s performance with the bat
Gaikwad could not do anything special with the bat in Maharashtra’s first match. He came at number 4 in the first innings and scored 1 run in just 4 balls. Batting at number 6 in the second innings, he could score only 11 runs in 32 balls.
Setback to Maharashtra
Gaikwad’s failed performance had a direct impact on the Maharashtra team. His team lost by 35 runs and suffered an early setback in the tournament.
Learning and entertainment with children
During the interaction with the children, Ruturaj not only spent fun moments, but also inspired them about the importance of cricket and believing in themselves on the field. This interaction also went viral on social media.
