‘Coolie’ vs ‘War 2’ day 9 box office collection: Can the Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR-led action flick stoop any lower?

What was branded to be a mega theatrical clash on Independence Day weekend turned out to be a blunt butter knife fight when Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie and Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 met with poor critical response on their long-awaited opening day.

Though both films entered the Rs 200 crore club—Coolie crossing the mark five days earlier than War 2—the momentum of the action flicks has reduced significantly. On Coolie’s ninth day of theatrical run, the film managed to mint Rs 6.01 crore, bringing its total domestic collections to Rs 235.66 crore. As for War 2, collections dropped significantly from the previous day, showing a 24 per cent decrease. The film scraped Rs 3.8 crore, with total collections amounting to Rs 208.05 crore. All box office figures have been sourced from industry tracker Sacnilk.

Despite the disappointing reviews, a clear winner has been projected among the two—Coolie towering over War 2, even with its pan-India marketing.
