Masterstroke by Elon Musk, announces a MASSIVE move to challenge mighty Microsoft, Tesla Boss’ ‘Macrohard’ can spell trouble for…
Elon Musk Macrohard: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the creation of a new company called Macrohard to take on mighty Microsoft’s software business while leveraging the power of AI. Musk has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) venture under his xAI initiative. The project, Macrohard, was announced by Musk on X (formerly Twitter) on August 22. “It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, but the project is very real!” he wrote.
Musk, in a post on X, revealed that Macrohard will function as a purely AI software company and will operate alongside his existing AI enterprise, xAI. As per the Tesla boss, since traditional software giants like Microsoft do not manufacture physical components themselves, it should be conceivable to recreate them entirely through artificial intelligence.
“In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI,” Musk stated.
Here are some of the key details:
- Through Macrohard, Musk plans to launch hundreds of specialized AI agents for coding as well as creating images and videos.
- These AI agents will function like humans.
- Macrohard will be a software-producing factory that will be operated entirely by AI.
- It will be capable of working in a human-like manner.
- To recall, Elon had said that using xAI and Grok, a multi-agent AI software company would be created.
- Last year, Musk had said that he would develop AI-powered video games.
What is Macrohard?
Macrohard will be a software company that will be entirely based on Artificial Intelligence. As per the reports, this company will work in collaboration with Musk’s existing company xAI. It should be remembered that xAI is the company that developed Grok AI, an AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT and Perplexity.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Elon Musk has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) venture under his xAI initiative
- xAI applied for a trademark for “Macrohard” on August 1.
- In July 2025, Musk revealed plans for a “multi-agent AI software company” powered by xAI’s Grok chatbot.
- Macrohard will join Musk’s expanding portfolio, which includes Tesla, xAI, X Corp, SpaceX, The Boring Company and Neuralink.
As per Teslarati, Macrohard is closely tied to xAI’s Colossus 2 supercomputer initiative in Memphis. Musk has confirmed plans to acquire millions of Nvidia GPUs to power the project, joining rivals like OpenAI and Meta in the escalating contest for AI computing capacity.
