Mumbai Metro: Keeping in mind the Ganpati festival, MMRDA will run the services of Metro Line 2A and Line 7 till midnight (till 12 o’clock) from 27 August to 6 September. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the needs of the passengers, as Ganpati festival is celebrated on a large scale in Mumbai.
Metro Metro Change: Only a few days are left for the start of Ganesh Utsav. Ganesh Utsav is celebrated with great pomp across the country. In Mumbai, a different vibrancy is seen during Ganesh Utsav. Seeing the vibrancy of Ganesh Utsav in Mumbai, MMRDA has given a big relief to metro passengers. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said that on the occasion of Ganpati festival, from 27 August to 6 September, services of Metro Line 2A and Line 7 (Red Line) will run till midnight (till 12 o’clock).
MMRDA has taken this decision keeping in mind the increasing crowd of passengers during the festival, so that people do not face any kind of problem.
When will the last metro be available
Line 2A (Yellow Line) runs from Dahisar East to Andheri West, while Line 7 (Red Line) runs from Dahisar East to Gundavali in Andheri East. According to MMRDA, during the 10-day long Ganesh Utsav, the last train from Andheri West (Line 2A) and Gundavali (Line 7) will leave at 12 midnight instead of the usual 11 pm. Usually these services run till 11 pm. On the occasion of Ganesh Utsav, you will now get the last metro till 12 midnight.
How many metros run now
Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) currently runs 317 metro trains on both lines from Monday to Friday. During peak hours, trains are available every 5 minutes 50 seconds and during normal times at an interval of about 9 minutes 30 seconds. On the weekends, 256 trains are run, with a gap of 8 minutes 6 seconds during peak hours and 10 minutes 25 seconds during normal times. MMRDA said in a release that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the needs of the passengers, as Ganpati festival is celebrated on a grand scale in Mumbai.
MMRDA chief Sanjay Mukherjee said, “During this time, trains will be available more frequently during peak hours on weekdays and on Sundays, they will run at an interval of 10 minutes, so that passengers can get a safe, reliable and comfortable journey.”
