Gustaakh Ishq: Manisha Malhotra production starring Vijay Varma & Fatima Sana Shaikh gears up for release

Popular fashion designer and filmmaker Manish Malhotra has announced that his new production will be out in theatres in November. The film, headlined by Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Naseeruddin Shah, is titled Gustaakh Ishq, and directed by Vibhu Puri ("Hawaizaada"). Also featuring Sharib Hashmi ("The Family Man", "Scam 1992") the film was earlier titled Ul-Jalool Ishq.

Malhotra, whose long and fruitful association with cinema began in the 1990s, shared the news on his Instagram handle on Sunday, adding that the first look will be unveiled on Monday. "Since childhood, I 've lived with a deep ishq for cinema. The magic of the stories, the glow of the screen, and the emotions that stay long after the credits roll. That love has shaped who I am, and today, it gives me the greatest joy to share a dream come true," he wrote.

He further added: "This November 2025, my first film as a producer, 'Gustaakh Ishq'. Will release in theatres. A film born outof passion, poetry, and a celebration of love in its all forms. This Monday I will be sharing with you the very first glimpse into the poetic world of 'Gustaakh Ishq'. This journey is special, personal and truly from the heart. It has always been my ishq since childhood, with the movies."

Vishal Bhardwaj is the music composer with lyrics by Gulzar. Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty is part of the crew alongside cinematographer Manush Nandan.

Malhotra's production banner Stage 5 Production was launched in September 2023 with the film Train From Chhapraula.

In a recent interview with THE WEEK, Malhotra said films were the next step in his journey and that there's a reason for his naming his company Stage 5. “I want to do everything. This is why my production company is called Stage 5; I have come to films after modelling, costume, fashion and jewellery.”
