Banks are going to remain closed on Friday 5 September. Eid-e-Milad un-Nabi, also known as Milad-e-Sharif or Bara Wafat, is a very special day for the Muslim community. It is celebrated in memory of the birthday of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Saheb. On this day mosques and houses are decorated, Quran Sharif is recited and people help the needy. At the same time, Thiruvonam i.e. Onam festival is the biggest festival of Kerala.

5 September (Friday): Eid-e-Milad/Thiruvonam in many cities including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad.

6 September (Saturday): Eid-e-Milad/Indrajatra in Gangtok, Jammu, Raipur and Srinagar.

12 September (Friday): Friday after Eid-e-Milad in Jammu and Srinagar.

22 September (Monday): Navratri Sthapana in Jaipur.

23 September (Tuesday): Maharaja Hari Singh Jayanti in Jammu and Srinagar.

29 September (Monday): Maha Saptami/Durga Puja in Agartala, Gangtok and Kolkata.

September 30 (Tuesday): Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami in several cities including Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi.
