Failed in Class 10th, cracked UPSC exam thrice, became IPS Officer with AIR…, name is.., hails from..
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of the toughest examinations in India. The examination is conducted in three stages: preliminary exam, mains exam, and interview. Only a small fraction of aspirants manage to clear the exam each year. However, some candidates overcome all the shortcomings in their lives to pursue their goals. One such person is IPS Ishwar Gurjar.
How did failing Class 10th become a stepping stone in his journey?
Even though Ishwar failed Class 10th, he did not stop trying. Through hard work and commitment, he cleared the UPSC exam three times. IPS Ishwar Gurjar’s journey shows us that failure is not the end but the start of a new journey.
Ishwar Gurjar is the son of Suvalal Gurjar, a farmer from the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, and Sukhi Devi, a homemaker. After failing his 10th-grade exams, he had decided to quit studying, but his father said, “Never lose courage.” Motivated by that statement, Ishwar attempted 10th grade again.
Which ranks did he secure in his three UPSC attempts?
Ishwar cleared Class 10th exams in 2012, scoring a respectable 54%, and then 68% in Class 12th. Ishwar went on to graduate from MDS University. Ishwar accomplished a huge milestone in 2019 when he became a teacher in a government school. Still, his ambitions did not stop there; he started preparing for the UPSC exam as well. His first two attempts were unsuccessful in the sense that he did not clear the Prelims in 2019, and even though he reached the Interview in 2020, he was ultimately not on the selected final list and was met with another failure in 2021.
In 2022, Ishwar achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 644 and was appointed to the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). In 2023, he achieved AIR 555 and realized his dream of becoming an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Finally, in his final attempt in 2024, he achieved AIR 483, establishing himself among the top officers of the country.
