After GST cut, Modi govt plans BIG for Indian exporters hit by Trump’s tariffs, preparing special relief package for…, to focus on…

After lowering GST rates to give some relief to ordinary people, the Modi government is now working on ways to support exporters who are struggling because of new tariffs announced by the Trump administration. According to media reports, the government is preparing a special relief package for exporters hit by the sharp rise in import duties in the US to 50 per cent. Officials said talks are underway, and new schemes could soon be launched to help businesses handle the impact.

The worst-affected sectors are textiles, clothing, gems, and jewellery and these make up a major part of India’s export income. Other industries such as leather, footwear, chemicals, engineering goods, farm products, and seafood are also facing difficulties.

Exporters worry that with these high tariffs, Indian goods will lose their price advantage in the US market. Many companies fear this could lead to fewer orders and weaker demand in the months ahead.

The upcoming relief package for exporters is likely to focus THESE key areas

Many small and medium exporters are facing serious cash flow problems because overseas payments are getting delayed while their working capital needs remain high. To ease this pressure, the package is expected to make loans and credit more accessible so that exporters can keep their businesses running smoothly.

Another important aim of the plan is to protect jobs. Sectors like textiles, jewellery, and leather employ large numbers of workers, especially in smaller towns, and the government wants to make sure people don’t lose their livelihoods. Officials see this support as a temporary cushion until exporters are able to find new markets outside the US.

The model may be similar to the Covid-19 relief package, when the MSME sector was given a Rs. 20 lakh crore lifeline to stay afloat and safeguard jobs. A comparable approach could now be used to help exporters deal with the tariff shock.

At the same time, the government is pushing ahead with its Export Promotion Mission, announced in this year’s Union Budget. The mission is designed to make Indian goods more competitive, open up fresh markets, and reduce over-reliance on a few trading partners.
