New Delhi: Amid tension with Donald Trump and tariff disputes, Russia is openly showing its support for India. It was very much visible at the SCO Summit held in Tianjin, China. Meanwhile, the Indian Army is conducting two big military exercises with the Russian Army. The ZAPAD exercise is being organised in Russia, in which an Indian Army team is going to participate. Also, next month, there will be Exercise Indra in India, for which a Russian Army team will come to India.

Pakistan and China are also participating

The Pakistani Army will also participate in Exercise ZAPAD being held in Russia. For the first time after Operation Sindoor, the Indian and Pakistani armies will be face-to-face in Russia. The Chinese Army is also participating in it. This is a multinational exercise in which armies of 20 countries are participating. This exercise has started from 1 September and will continue till 17 September. The Indian Army team will leave on Monday, September 8. There will be about 70 soldiers in this team. Different groups are formed for this exercise. In this, China and Pakistan are in one group, and India is in a different group.

What is the aim of this exercise?

The exercise aims to increase military cooperation. Along with this exercise, Exercise Indra will be held in India next month. This is a bilateral exercise between India and Russia. This exercise aims to increase military cooperation, coordination and interoperability between the two countries. It started in the year 2003. First, this exercise started between the Navies; later, the Armies and Air Forces were also included in it.

Exercise with America as well

Along with these exercises with Russia, the Indian Army is also exercising with America. The Indian Army team has reached the ongoing war exercise in Alaska. This exercise will continue till September 14. This is an India-American joint military exercise named Yudh Abhyas 2025. This is the 21st edition of the exercise. Soldiers of a battalion of the Madras Regiment of the Indian Army have gone to this war exercise.
