Rekha Mahajan inaugurates ‘Numaish’ exhibition

JAMMU, Sept 5: Rekha Mahajan, vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K today reaffirmed the Modi Government’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs, stating that women-specific schemes have boosted confidence and enabled financial independence across the country, including the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The BJP leader was speaking as the chief guest after inaugurating the two-day ‘Numaish – Karwachauth & Diwali Edition’ exhibition in Jammu.
Curated by Shikha Soi, the exhibition showcases a wide collection of fashion, lifestyle and home décor products.
Mahajan appreciated the initiative, stressing that such exhibitions not only promote innovative designs but also provide vital opportunities for women entrepreneurs and local talent.
She said, “Women are becoming increasingly visible in India’s startup ecosystem, stepping beyond traditional roles and even leaving high-profile jobs to pursue entrepreneurship. Women-owned enterprises are inspiring society and creating new employment avenues. With the right support and determination, women will continue to shape India’s economic and social future.”
The exhibition, which runs on September 5 and 6 with free entry for visitors, offers a festive shopping experience featuring traditional and contemporary designs.
Curator Shikha Soi described Numaish as a platform blending creativity with commerce, aimed at giving local artists and designers wider visibility.
Expressing her excitement, she noted, “This is my first exhibition, organized ahead of the festival season. Since the opening day coincides with Teachers’ Day, I wanted to honor educators by offering exclusive discounts and free gifts to all teachers as a small token of gratitude.”
The grand opening witnessed an enthusiastic response, with large crowds exploring the curated collections.
Visitors praised the exhibition for supporting local talent and offering unique lifestyle and fashion trends, making it both a cultural and commercial success.
