Religious processions mark celebrations of Eid Milad un Nabi across Jammu region

JAMMU, Sept 6: Eid Milad un Nabi -the birthday of Prophet Mohammed was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Jammu region today with Muslims taking out religious processions in different parts of the region to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.

In Jammu the functions and religious processions were taken at Bhatindi, Sidhrah, Gujar Nagar, Ustad Mohalla , Sarwal, Janipur, Beli Charana etc in which a large number of Muslims belonging to both Shia and Sunni sects participated with great enthusiasm and fervour.
In Bhatindi area the processions which were taken out from different localities including Trikuta Nagar, Sidhra, Sunjwan etc later joined the main procession which concluded at Bhatindi Chowk.
The processionists attired in white and black dresses with Islamic flags in their hands were raising slogans in praise of Prophet Mohammed and Islam enroute.
The people had installed stalls at various places serving cold drinks, and other eatables among the processionists. The members of other communities including Hindus and Sikhs also participated in installation of the stalls and besides greeting the processionists enroute.
Another procession was taken out from Ambphalla to Janipur in which hundreds members of Muslim community participated. The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the processionists all over the city and its outskirts.
Talking to reporters the Muslims scholars at Bhatindi and Sidhra said that it is the 1500 birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed and this day has a special significance for the Muslims all over the world. They said Prophet Mohammed came with the message of peace, brotherhood and love for mankind.
“Islam is for human prosperity and Prophet Mohammed has fought against the oppressors, for prevalence of truth and betterment of mankind throughout his life”. They appealed the Muslims to act upon the teachings of Islam in right perspective and spread the message of peace and love of Prophet and Islam across the globe.
They also made special prayers for the well being and prosperity of the people of country as well as J&K which has seen a great devastation during the recent incessant rains, floods and cloudbursts. They prayed God to bestow courage to the people to overcome the sufferings they faced during the recent natural calamity and rid them of all adversaries.
They also appealed the processionists to ensure peace during the procession enroute so that people on the roadside don’t face difficulties in free movement or disturbance in movement of transport. They also complimented the members of other communities who assured full cooperation.
Reports reaching from districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar , Reasi, Kathua and Udhampur said that Eid Milad-un Nabi was celebrated with great religious charm and enthusiasm with large number of people participating in the religious processions. The Muslim scholars later addressed the big congregations highlighting the significance of the day and throwing light on life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
