Washington: The demand for Apple products is increasing in India and the company’s record-breaking sales are not hidden from United States President Donald Trump. Despite being targeted by Trump, CEO Tim Cook has maintained his old stance towards India and the US President doesn’t like it. On Thursday, tech giants like Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella met Trump at the White House. During the meeting, the US President asked the Apple CEO , “how much money are you going to invest in America?”

Cook replied, ‘USD600 billion,’ praising Trump for “setting the tone” for his company to grow in US.

“I want to thank you for setting the tone such that we could make a major investment in the United States… That says a lot about your focus and your leadership and your focus on innovation,” said the Apple CEO said during the dinner.

Notably, the apple sales in India have reached its record levels of USD 9 billion in the financial year 2024-25. The surge has come because of the increasing demand of iPhones in India. The sales have increased because of Apple’s plan to expand in India by increasing its retail presence, Bloomberg reported.

Few month ago, Trump told Cook that he did not want Apple to manufacture its products in India and expand its operations in the US. He was referring to Apple’s commitment to invest $500 billion in the country.

Is Apple Increasing Production In India

It is worth noting that Apple is increasing its production in India in order to reduce its dependence on China.

Currently, about 90 percent of Apple’s smartphones are assembled in China and it is planning to make about 25 percent iPhones in India in the coming years. India is a small market for Apple’s overall business model but the company is investing and expanding in the country.
