Over 1,500 bags of urea seized in Yamunanagar during inspections

The Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Yamunanagar, in coordination with the Police Department, carried out surprise inspections across the district to curb the illegal diversion of subsidised agricultural-grade urea fertiliser.
During the operation, the Agriculture Department teams detected large-scale irregularities and initiated strict enforcement action. Authorities registered three FIRs, seized 1,512 bags of urea, and confiscated two trucks along with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) linked to the violations.
At a firm in Sadhaura town, officials found discrepancies between the Point of Sale (POS) stock records and the physical stock. While the POS reflected 894 bags of urea, only 696 bags were available during verification, showing a shortage of 198 bags. An FIR was subsequently lodged against the firm’s owners at Sadhaura Police Station.
In another case, the inspection team intercepted a truck carrying 210 bags of urea in the Bilaspur area. The consignment lacked valid records. The seized stock was sampled for laboratory testing, and an FIR was registered at Vyaspur Police Station.
The team further intercepted another truck transporting 630 bags of urea from Narwana (Jind) for industrial use. An SUV was also found escorting the truck. The authorities seized both vehicles and registered an FIR against a trader at Jathlana Police Station.
“No one shall be allowed to engage in the illegal sale, purchase, or supply of subsidised agricultural-grade urea in the district. Strict action is being taken to prevent diversion of fertilisers and ensure that urea reaches farmers for genuine agricultural purposes,” said Aditya Pratap Dabas, Deputy Director Agriculture-cum-Licensing Authority, Yamunanagar.
