Hisar localities waterlogged for days, locals rue poor drainage

Some localities in Hisar are experiencing knee-deep waterlogging following heavy rainfall, forcing residents to stay indoors for days.

Residents allege that sewerage system has nearly choked, with rainwater stagnating in the streets for almost a week. “The water drainage system is highly ineffective. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities and raising the issue in the Municipal Corporation meetings, nothing has been done to clean the blocked sewers and drainage system,” alleged locals.

The localities affected by waterlogging include New Shastri Nagar, Industrial Area, parts of Rampura Mohalla, Badwari Dhani, Sainian Mohalla and

Azad Nagar.

Residents of New Shastri Nagar claimed that they had met the PWD and PHED Minister Ranbir Gangwa and Municipal Corporation member Gulab Singh, but no solution had been provided.

Meanwhile, Minister Gangwa’s own locality at Rajaram Garden on Kaimri Road has been facing the problem of overflowing sewerage. Stagnant dirty water in the locality is causing foul smell and distress among residents. The Rajaram Garden locality was set up in 2003 on Kaimri Road in the name of Gangwa’s father. However, the MC authorities claimed that there has been a small issue due to which water remains stagnant. “There could be some issue with the drainage system, but we have been addressing the problem,” said an official. Notably, Municipal Commissioner Neeraj conducted an on-site inspection of the affected areas after the recent rains in the town, along with the officials from the MC and Public Health Department (PHD).
