Netizens react

While the audience at the event seemed thrilled, netizens online were divided. Several users questioned the choice of the song for the occasion. One user wrote, “This just felt completely wrong and off-putting. She’s a celebrated actor why would the brand choose to have her perform an item number? It makes no sense. Even if the goal was crowd interaction, she has plenty of other popular dance numbers they could have used instead. They could have even involved officials or the audience in learning the hook steps. The way this was executed feels tone-deaf and inappropriate.” Another commented, ‘Was she forced? She looks uncomfortable.” One comment read, “Not the appropriate event for this dance ! Not gracious at all.”

At the same time, many social media users flooded the comment section with compliments. Words like “evergreen beauty” and “Bollywood queen’ were seen in the comment box of clips shared widely across social media platforms.

On the work front, Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. The crime drama is expected to explore themes of justice and morality.
