Will forged: Karisma’s kids move HC over late father’s ₹30,000-cr estate
Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor’s two children — who had sought a share in the Rs 30,000-crore estate of their late father, Sunjay Kapur — have moved the Delhi High Court, accusing their stepmother and Sunjay’s third wife, Priya Kapur, of forging his will to take sole control of assets.
The siblings, represented through their mother, argued that they were unlawfully excluded from Kapur’s inheritance following his sudden death in June this year while in the United Kingdom. Their suit has named Priya Kapur, her minor son, Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur, and the purported executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah, as defendants.
At the centre of the dispute is a document dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly bequeaths Sunjay’s entire personal estate to Priya.
The children have alleged that the will was suppressed for more than seven weeks, and was disclosed only on July 30 at a family meeting.
They claimed that Priya had conspired with associates Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma to withhold the document. In their plea, they described the will as “forged and fabricated”, maintaining that it was surrounded by suspicious circumstances.
The petition states: “Neither the original of the alleged will has been shown to the plaintiffs, nor has a copy been provided.”
The children have asked the court to recognise them as Class I legal heirs, and to issue a decree of partition granting them a one-fifth share each in their father’s estate.
They have also sought interim relief in the form of the freezing of all personal assets belonging to Sunjay until the dispute is adjudicated.
