Wamiqa has her hands full…
In an industry where visibility is everything, Wamiqa Gabbi is doing more than just making appearances — she’s commanding attention. With eight films currently in various stages of production or release in different languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, Wamiqa is enjoying being one of the busiest actresses at the moment.
Chandigarh girl Wamiqa Gabbi’s journey has been anything but conventional. The daughter of Govardhan Gabbi, Punjabi author and screenplay writer, Wamiqa got exposure to films early on. She made her film debut as a child in Jab We Met (2007) with a cameo role and hasn’t looked back since then.
The rise of a pan-India star
Wamiqa’s career has been on a steady upward trajectory for years, but what sets her apart is her presence across multiple film industries. She has seamlessly transitioned from one language and region to another, building a pan-India identity. Whether it’s the emotional depth she brought to Grahan, the old-world charm of Jubilee, and act in fantasy romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, Wamiqa has proven she’s here to stay.
Bollywood blitz: A lineup packed with variety
In Bhoot Bangla, a horror-comedy, she stars opposite Akshay Kumar, which is slated for April 2026 release. This film promises a blend of chills and laughs. Next up is Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling, a quirky romantic comedy featuring Jaya Bachchan and Siddhant Chaturvedi. The project is already generating buzz for its unconventional pairing and fresh storyline. Wamiqa is also teaming up with YouTube sensation and actor Bhuvan Bam in Kuku Ki Kundali, a slice-of-life comedy expected to appeal to younger audiences. In Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, Wamiqa is stepping into an iconic franchise, opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.
Meanwhile, she has been roped in for a Dharma Productions project, directed by the critically acclaimed Shakun Batra. She also has Ujwal Nikam, a courtroom drama in her kitty, in which she stars alongside Rajkummar Rao.
Foray into regional film industries
Even as Bollywood keeps her busy, Wamiqa is making inroads into the South. In Telugu cinema, she’s filming G2, a sequel to the popular spy thriller Goodachari. With high-octane action and a gripping plot, the film is one of the most anticipated Telugu releases of the year. She’s also working in Tikitaka, a Malayalam entertainer. This Rohith V.S. directorial also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen.
Wamiqa’s journey hasn’t been the result of overnight success, but of consistent work. She’s worked her way up from supporting roles to leading lady status. With eight diverse projects lined up, and a track record that’s impressive, she represents the new wave of Indian cinema that’s not bound neither by language nor genre.
