Institution of Engineers celebrates Royal Charter Day

JAMMU, Sept 9: The Institution of Engineers today celebrated Royal Charter Day at Institutional Complex, Sector -3, Channi Himmat.
The function was attended by Engineers from various Departments, organizations and senior Engineers along with members of the Committee of IEI, Jammu local Centre.
On this occasion, Devinder Singh Pawar, former Member (Technical), J&K State Electricity Regulatory Commission was the chief guest, whereas Anil Verma, chairman, IEI Jammu Local Centre presided over the function.
Anil Verma presented the welcome address and introduced the relevance of the day to the august audience.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “This day is celebrated not only to commemorate a significant milestone in our Institution’s history but also to reflect upon the enduring legacy of engineering excellence that has shaped our country, region and profession.”
Rabinder Shekher, former Honorary Secretary, described about the history, relevance & privileges granted to the Institution by virtue of being given the Royal Charter by His Majesty, The King and Emperor George V at the Court of Buckingham Palace, London on 9th of September, 1935.
Pertinently, IEI is the only professional body in India to have been granted this Royal Charter and it practises these privileges even today in Independent India.
P K Nanda, former Honorary Secretary highlighted that the Engineers are the architects for overall development of the mankind besides being one of the important pillars of the world to provide sustainable Environment.
Devinder Singh Pawar, chief guest appreciated the efforts of the Jammu Local Centre for organizing this event.
Avneet Gupta conducted the proceedings and presented the Vote of Thanks.
