NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as the next Vice President of the country.
A total of 452 votes were cast in his favour in the elections held for the post of Vice President on Tuesday.
Election officer for the Vice Presidential election PC Modi said in a press conference that the counting of votes began at 6 pm.
He said that a total of 767 MPs voted for the Vice Presidential election. Out of these, 752 were valid and the remaining 15 were declared invalid.
Former Supreme Court Justice B Sudarshan Reddy was challenging him as the joint candidate of the opposition parties.
However, due to the numbers being in favour of NDA, CP Radhakrishnan’s victory was already considered certain. But there were also speculations that cross voting could take place.
B Sudarshan Reddy got 300 first preference votes and CP Radhakrishnan got 452.
PC Modi said that according to the rules of the Vice Presidential election, CP Radhakrishnan has been elected Vice President.
PC Modi said that a total of 98.2 percent voting took place for the Vice Presidential election.
How was the last election

But in July, Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President citing health reasons.
In the elections held in August 2022, Jagdeep Dhankhar got 528 votes out of a total of 725 votes. That is, he won with about 73% of the votes.
