Though India take on hosts UAE today in their opener of the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai today, all eyes are on the big match four days later, when the Men in Blue will take on arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue.
There's a lot of excitement for the particular match as India and Pakistan have not played a full cricket series against each other in the last decade. They only face off in major tournaments organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) or the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The September 14 match takes place amid heightened tensions between the two countries in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in April this year, which killed 26 people, and India’s subsequent response in the form of Operation Sindoor, leading to an armed conflict between the two neighbours.
The sparks are already flying, with India skipper Suryakumar Yadav saying they will not hold back on aggression in the high-voltage clash against Pakistan as it is an important aspect of playing international sport. His Pakistani counterpart Salman Ali Agha, too, said that his team would not shy away from showing aggression either.
So, it comes as a big suprise that the match is not yet a sellout. There are tickets available, according to reports, primarily due to the exorbitant prices. This includes premium seats that cost more than Rs 2.5 lakh for two people.
According to a report in the Times of India, the high ticket prices and special bundled packages seem to have reduced the demand this year. On popular ticket websites like Viagogo and Platinumlist, the best seats are expensive. For example, VIP Suites East tickets cost Rs 2,57,815 for two seats. These come with special perks like seats near the aisle, unlimited food and drinks, parking, access to VIP lounges, and private bathrooms.
Other top-tier options are also costly: the Royal Box costs Rs 2,30,700, and Sky Box East is Rs 1,67,851 for two tickets. Even mid-range tickets are expensive – Platinum seats are Rs 75,659, Grand Lounge seats are Rs 41,153, and Pavilion West seats are Rs 28,174. The cheapest option, General East, still costs close to Rs 10,000 for two.
