‘Roshan Punjab’ project gets going in Hoshiarpur

In a major step towards strengthening the power infrastructure in Hoshiarpur, bifurcation works worth ₹298 crore were launched today under the government’s ambitious “Roshan Punjab Project.” The inauguration ceremony was held at 11 KV substation in Hoshiarpur, where MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa commenced the project.

The state-level launch was conducted simultaneously across Punjab through an online event, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal.

MLA Jimpa said the project will give new direction to the state’s power sector. “The bifurcation of 11 KV feeders will balance the electricity load and ensure uninterrupted power supply to every consumer,” he stated.

Jimpa added that under the leadership of Mann, Punjab is moving swiftly towards self-reliance in power generation. “The days of power cuts will soon be over,” he said.

He further instructed Powercom officials to give priority to the safety of electricity workers and ensure the mandatory use of all protective equipment. “The government is committed to safeguarding the interests of power employees and providing better services to the consumers,” he emphasised.

Calling the project a historic step towards development, Jimpa said apart from improving the household power supply, the initiative will also give a major boost to the industrial sector. “The goal of the government is to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted power supply to every village and city, fulfilling the dream of a truly ‘Roshan Punjab’,” he concluded.
