Music composer Charanjit Ahuja dies at 72
Punjabi music composer Charanjit Ahuja, 72, passed away after a prolonged illness at his home in TDI City here on Sunday evening. Ahuja was suffering from liver cancer and undergoing treatment at the PGI, Chandigarh. He is survived by wife Sangeet Ahuja and three sons.
Ahuja gained prominence in the music industry with his hit compositions “Kee Banu Duniyan Daa” (1986), “Gabhroo Punjab Da” (1986), “Dushmani Jattan Di” (1993) and “Toofan Singh” (2017). Several Punjabi singers, including Jabir Jassi, paid tributes to the departed soul. Ahuja had a studio in Delhi but shifted to Mohali due to illness. His son Sachin Ahuja is also a well-known Punjabi music producer.
Ahuja will be cremated at Balongi crematorium on September 22.
Condoling Ahuja’s death, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, “The passing away of Charanjit Ahuja is an irreparable loss to the Punjabi music industry. His compositions will always rule the hearts of Punjabis. My condolences to Sachin Ahuja (son), family, and his fans."
