Shiv Sena accuses BJP of betraying Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 9: Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused the BJP-led government of continued indifference and betrayal toward Jammu, despite being in power for over a decade.
Addressing a press conference at the Party’s State office, Manish Sahni, president of the Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit, alleged that the promises of protecting Jammu’s culture, boosting investment, and creating employment have turned out to be hollow.
Sahni said that despite the BJP’s 2014 victory on the promise of ending Jammu’s discrimination, the region continues to face neglect. He cited the diversion of major trains to Katra after the expansion of the railway line in 2014 and the abolition of the 152-year-old Darbar Move tradition in 2021, which he claimed crippled Jammu’s trade.
Taking aim at the Government’s investment claims, Sahni pointed out that the much-publicized MoU with Apollo Hospital collapsed due to administrative indifference and internal conflicts among BJP leaders. The hospital land, he said, remains embroiled in a Supreme Court dispute since 2019. Similarly, 48 kanals of prime land at Jammu’s Exhibition Ground earmarked for FDI projects remain undeveloped.
He also expressed concern over unemployment, the absence of a relief package for areas hit by recent natural disasters, and the rising menace of drug abuse and crime. “Jammu, the city of temples, is turning into a city of drugs and despair,” Sahni remarked, urging people to unite behind the Shiv Sena to safeguard Jammu’s identity and interests.
