BJP organises workshop on tribal development

Bhubaneswar: A daylong workshop on tribal development was organised Thursday at the BJP state office here to deliberate on the planning, implementation, and long-term vision of initiatives aimed at ensuring holistic and inclusive development of tribal communities across the country.

Prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, state BJP president Manmohan Samal, Union Minister Jual Oram, BJP National General Secretary BL Santosh, and State In-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, attended the event and discussed the roadmap for implementing the initiative, reaffirming the government’s commitment to tribal welfare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the workshop, MP Ananta Nayak said the Modi government has launched this initiative to empower tribal communities to actively participate in the development of their own regions.

He noted that the primary objective is to create sustainable livelihood opportunities within tribal areas and curb distress migration to other states.

He observed that earlier governments had often overlooked the genuine needs of tribal communities and implemented schemes inspired by foreign models.

In contrast, the Modi government’s approach focuses on indigenous planning, rooted in local aspirations and community participation.

As part of this initiative, BJP MPs and MLAs from tribal-dominated constituencies will each adopt 20 to 25 villages to fast-track their development.

The project aims to bring together administrators, elected representatives, and voluntary organisations in a coordinated effort to advance the socio-economic progress of tribal regions.

The workshop was coordinated by MP Balabhadra Majhi and attended by several MPs, MLAs, and senior BJP functionaries.
