Trump makes BIG statement on Obama’s peace prize award: ‘He got it for doing…’
Pompously claiming that he was instrumental in solving seven wars and are close to ending the eighth, US President Donald Trump once again showcased his desire for the Nobel Prize. Trump took a dig at the Swedish Nobel Committee, saying that perhaps they will find a reason not to give it to him. The Nobel Peace Prize is going to be announced on Friday this week, and Trump is considered a leading contender.
He even went on to criticize his predecessor Barack Obama’s achievements, and accused him of “doing nothing” and “destroying our country”.
What he said about Barack Obama?
“He got it for doing nothing. Obama got a prize – he didn’t even know what – he got elected, and they gave it to Obama for doing absolutely nothing but destroying our country,” Trump said and added “They gave it to Obama for absolutely nothing but destroying our country.”
“I’ve stopped eight wars, so that’s never happened before – but they’ll have to do what they do. Whatever they do is fine. I know this: I didn’t do it for that, I did it because I saved a lot of lives,” he added.
Obama was eight months into his first term when he received the prestigious award in 2009. The move had shocked many people, with the liberal New York Times reporting that the recognition was ‘very premature’ and arguing the Nobel ‘should have a higher bar.’
What trump said on Russia-Ukraine war
Trump continued, “By the way, 7,000 people died last week between Russia and Ukraine. I think we’ll settle that. So, I don’t think anybody in history has ever settled that many cases, but maybe they’ll find a reason not to give it to me, you know.”
