Quick-thinking RPF officer prevents tragedy, saves elderly woman’s life in Bhadrak

A major mishap was narrowly avoided at Bhadrak railway station when a woman passenger fell while trying to board a moving train. The incident, which occurred around 1 a.m. on Thursday, was captured on CCTV cameras.

According to reports, the passenger, identified as Janaki Rout, attempted to board the Jagannath Express after it had already started moving. As she tried to run alongside and climb onto the train, she slipped and fell close to the platform edge.

In a swift and heroic response, RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Manas Manik, who was on duty at the time, immediately rushed to her rescue. He quickly pulled Janaki to safety, preventing what could have been a fatal accident.

RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Manas Manik said, “I was on duty for the Shree Jagannath Express, which was travelling from Kharagpur to Bhadrak, when I suddenly noticed an elderly woman trying to board the moving train. She slipped and was about to fall under it, but due to my presence of mind, I immediately pulled her to safety and saved her life.”

Due to his quick thinking and timely action, the woman’s life was saved. Railway authorities have commended the RPF officer for his alertness, courage, and exemplary dedication to duty.
