WATCH: Rohit Sharma gears up for Australia ODI series with former India coach at Shivaji Park
Even though Rohit Sharma lost his role as ODI captain, he has been selected in India’s ODI team for the upcoming three-match series against Australia starting October 4. The 38-year-old will play as a specialist batter under the new captain Shubman Gill during the three ODIs in Australia beginning October 19. Before travelling to Australia, Rohit is working hard in training in Mumbai these days.
In a popular new video online, the right-handed batsman is shown practicing at the famous Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

What are Rohit Sharma’s stats?
Rohit Sharma has made 11,168 runs in 273 one-day games for India. In his most recent 50-over match for the team, he scored 76 runs against New Zealand, helping India win the ICC Champions Trophy final in 2025. Rohit, ranked as the world’s second-best ODI batsman, has scored 990 runs in 19 ODIs played in Australia against the Australian team.
In the upcoming series, Rohit will have a chance to be the first player to score 1,000 runs in ODI games between India and Australia played in Australia. He also has a chance to break Shahid Afridi’s record for the most sixes in ODIs and pass Sourav Ganguly in the list of Indian players with the most runs in ODIs.
How can he break Shaheen Afridi’s record?
Afridi played 398 ODIs for Pakistan from 1996 to 2015 and hit 351 sixes. Rohit currently has 344 sixes. In ODIs, Ganguly scored a total of 11,221 runs for India, while Rohit has 11,168 runs so far. Rohit needs 54 more runs to pass Ganguly and become the third-highest run-scorer for India in ODIs.
If Rohit Sharma scores 300 or more runs in the three ODIs against the six-time World Cup champions, he will reach 20,000 runs in international cricket. Right now, he has scored a total of 19,700 runs in 499 matches.
