WATCH: India players tease Shubman Gill after he wins first toss in 7 attempts
Shubman Gill won his first toss as India’s Test captain on his 7th attempt during the second Test against the West Indies in New Delhi on Friday. In his previous six matches, from the England tour to the first Test against the West Indies, he had lost every toss. That unlucky streak ended on Friday, and after the toss, Gill and his teammates shared some fun and jokes about it.
What banter did happen?
As Shubman Gill returned to his team, Axar Patel and coach Gautam Gambhir met him, and they all shared a good laugh about him finally winning a toss. “Well done Gill,” some one shouted while Gambhir laughed and said, “Jassi (Bumrah) had already marked his run up,” to which Bumrah said, “Me and Miyan (Siraj), both” as the banter continued, as shared by a video by BCCI
What was Shubman Gill’s statement?
“Out of the 7 Test matches, we have got what we wanted from 4, right? We wanted to bowl in the previous match, we got to bowl. Now, batting in this one. Toss does not matter. We will get what we want,” Gill said smiling at Bumrah and Siraj while walking towards the dressing room.
Where is the video?
After winning the toss, Gill chose to bat first against the West Indies in the second Test of the series. India kept the same team that had beaten the West Indies, led by Roston Chase, by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test at Ahmedabad.
