As part of National Postal Week being celebrated from 6th to 10th October this year, Maharashtra Postal Circle organized a high-impact conclave titled “India Post Logistics: Connecting India with the World” at Fairfield by Marriott, Mumbai on occasion of Customer Day. This highlighted India Post’s growing role in international logistics and export facilitation, positioning itself as a trusted logistics partner for Indian exporters. The event was attended by senior officers and industry stakeholders including Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle; Jayati Samaddar, GM (Finance); Ms. Suchita Joshi, PMG Navi Mumbai Region; Ms. Kaiya Arora, DPS Mumbai Region; Abhijeet Ichake, DPS Navi Mumbai Region; Rekha Rizvi, Director Mumbai GPO; R. In his keynote address, Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, highlighted India Post’s expanding logistics capabilities and reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a key enabler of India’s global trade ambitions. He emphasized that India Post, with its vast reach and modernized infrastructure, is evolving beyond traditional postal services to offer secure, accessible, and reliable logistics solutions, especially for MSMEs, artisans, and rural entrepreneurs.

Amitabh Singh, further informed that India Post traditionally delivered parcels weighing up to 20 kg. However, under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, toolkits weighing approximately 80 kg are being successfully delivered to artisans across the country. He shared that India Post has already delivered over nine lakh toolkits under this scheme, reflecting the Department’s growing logistical capabilities.

Singh also highlighted the role of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) — a real-time digital payment system. UPI enables instant money transfers between bank accounts using mobile devices via UPI IDs, QR codes, or mobile numbers. He noted that India has emerged as a global leader in digital payments, with UPI processing over 10 billion transactions monthly and playing a pivotal role in promoting financial inclusion across urban and rural areas. With strong government support and public-private collaboration, UPI has become a model of innovation, offering features like UPI Lite, Autopay, and international linkages. India is now exporting UPI technology to countries like Singapore, UAE, and France, positioning itself as a pioneer in shaping the future of global digital payments.
