Now, pay traffic challans at kiosk
Residents will no longer be required to make a trip to the Traffic Towers to pay challans as the Gurugram traffic police have decided to install kiosks to simplify the payment process. The first kiosk will be inaugurated at Ambience Mall, where a trial machine had already been operationalised, on Saturday.
This will mark the first time in the country that traffic challans will be paid using QR codes via kiosks. This facility will help commuters save time and money.
A senior traffic police officer said that when drivers will be required to enter their vehicle number or challan number at this kiosk. Following which, a QR code will appear for instant payment. Operating these kiosks will be as easy as using an ATM, a police spokesperson said.
“This service will be available 24 hours a day, allowing people to pay their dues at a time of their choosing. This feature will be especially beneficial for shoppers visiting busy locations. However, the challans sent to the court cannot be paid through this kiosk,” the officer added.
“Similar kiosks will be installed at other key locations in the city. This initiative will also reduce the cops’ workload,” Rajesh Mohan, DCP (Traffic), said.
