Indigo Airlines Makes Major Announcement: Seems like the recent diplomatic initiatives between India and China have been fruitful, as the results are getting visible. India’s major private airline – IndiGo – on Saturday announced that it is resuming its direct flight to China’s Guangzhou. The flight will take off from Delhi. The airline stated that the service will start from November 10. However, IndiGo, from October 26, had already started its direct flight to the Chinese major city from Kolkata.
IndiGo operated flights between India and China before the pandemic and has many of the necessary arrangements and processes already in place, the low-cost airline said in a statement. “The past experience and familiarity with local partners will enable IndiGo to resume these flights swiftly.”
Were There Any Direct Indigo Flights To China?
It is worth noting that there have been no direct flights between the neighbouring countries since 2020. Amid the cold war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China a month ago for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation regional security bloc. This was the first visit to China of any Indian PM in seven years.
PM Modi And Xi Jinping’s Meeting
PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a crucial meeting and agreed that both the countries were development partners, not rivals. Both the leaders discussed ways to further strengthen trade deals amid US tariff uncertainty.
