Real Madrid prodigy Franco Mastantuono, who was injured during a training session with his national team ahead of an international friendly with Puerto Rico, has returned to the Spanish capital. However, the 18-year-old attacker's injury should not be a cause for concern to the Los Blancos, who were also told about Kylian Mbappé and Dean Huijsen's fitness blows while with their respective national teams.

The Argentine winger felt discomfort in his left foot and is expected to undergo further tests in Madrid upon his return.

José Luis Sánchez, a journalist known for the Spanish sports talk show El Chiringuito de Jugones, confirmed that a season-threatening serious injury has already been ruled out. "Mbappé: left the national team due to a blow to his right ankle. After tests by the Real Madrid doctors, he must stop. No severity. He will play. Mastantuono: leaves the national team due to muscle overload. Returns to Madrid and will be examined. Severity is ruled out," Luis Sánchez said on X.

According to reports, Mastantuono underwent several medical tests on Friday and the source of his discomfort was identified. Thus, the Argentine national team decided to allow him to go back to Madrid and skip both the ties during the international window.

The attacker will undergo further tests at the Real medical facility, multiple media reports said. Only then will it be confirmed if he will have to sit out for a few weeks or not. On October 19, the Los Blancos are scheduled to take on Getafe away in a league fixture before a heavyweight UEFA Champions League fixture against Juventus at home on October 22, Wednesday. On October 26, Sunday, Barcelona will be reaching the Bernabéu for the El Clásico, and whether Mastantuono will be match-fit for the contest can only be confirmed after the medical procedures at Madrid are completed.

Real Madrid latest injury concerns

France captain Kylian Mbappé has withdrawn from Monday's World Cup qualifier against Iceland due to a right ankle injury sustained during his side's 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan. He sustained the injury in the 83rd minute of the Azerbaijan game after scoring one goal and assisting another. "The national coach (Didier Deschamps) has confirmed his withdrawal. Kylian Mbappé has been made available to his club and will not be replaced," the FFF said in a statement.

Similarly, centre-back Dean Huijsen has been ruled out of their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria due to a muscle injury. "Huijsen, 20, arrived at the national team's training camp on Monday evening but did not train on Tuesday after reporting symptoms of muscle fatigue," the RFEF said in a statement. "Medical examinations conducted on Wednesday confirmed the muscle injury, of which Real Madrid has been informed, prompting his withdrawal from the squad. We wish him a swift recovery."
