BSF holds PoPs for 788 recruit constables in Udhampur, Humhama

UDHAMPUR/SRINAGAR, Oct 11: The Border Security Force (BSF) today organized attestation-cum-passing out parades (PoPs) at its Subsidiary Training Centres (STCs) in Udhampur and Humhama, marking the induction of a total of 788 newly trained constables into the force.
At STC Udhampur, the parade marked the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous training for 621 recruit constables hailing from different States across the country.
Here, the recruits took a solemn oath to serve the nation with dedication and integrity before departing for their respective postings.
The event was presided over by Satish S Khandare, Additional Director General (Western Command), BSF Chandigarh, who took the salute and lauded the high standards of training at the centre.
He commended the efforts of the officers and instructors for their commitment to shaping disciplined and capable soldiers. Recruit Constable Pankaj Kumar commanded the parade, while Recruit Constable Parul Kharole secured the overall first position.
Sandeep Channan, Inspector General, STC BSF Udhampur, welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries.
The event was witnessed by senior officers from the Army, Civil Administration, Police, CAPFs, school teachers, and families of recruits.
Cultural performances, including the Bihu and Lezim dances and a programme by students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Udhampur, added colour to the ceremony.
The BSF band’s tunes lent a ceremonial touch, earning applause from the audience.
Meanwhile, at STC Humhama in Srinagar, 167 recruit constables (tradesmen) completed their training and were formally inducted as ‘Seema Praharis’.
Inspector General STC Kashmir, BSF, Solomon Yash Kumar Minz, presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
He inspected the parade and praised the recruits’ exceptional progress in physical, mental, and professional capabilities during their 44-week training period.
Highlighting BSF’s crucial role as the first line of defence, Yash Kumar emphasized the force’s significant contributions in guarding borders, combating terrorism, and maintaining internal security.
He underscored the importance of coordination among security agencies to tackle cross-border terrorism and narco threats.
The IG appreciated the recruits for their discipline, coordination, and enthusiasm, congratulating the instructors for transforming raw youths into confident and well-trained jawans.
The chief guest also presented medals to outstanding recruits for their performance in indoor and outdoor activities.
