Lala Prabhdayal Trust distributes school kits to flood-hit students

With collaborative efforts of Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, District Education Office and District Red Cross Society, students studying in government schools of flood-affected areas are continuously being offered relief and help through individual and organisations.

As part of the ongoing initiative by various social organisations to provide school bags and educational material to students of government schools, a school bag distribution ceremony was held today for the students of Government Middle and Elementary Schools in Gurala village of Ajnala. During the event, the trustees of Lala Prabhdayal Dharamshala Trust — Manju Pishoria, Mithun Pishoria, Raghav Pishoria and Suraj Pishoria — distributed 237 school bag kits and other essential educational materials worth Rs 1.25 lakh among the students.

School Headmistress Amanjit Kaur and Headmaster Tarsem Lal said the students belong to low-income families and with their source of income disrupted due to floods, most of them could not afford to buy books or other learning material that was destroyed in floods. They said this timely assistance would help the children of flood-affected areas continue their education and improve school attendance.
