Firefights broke out along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border late Saturday following a Pakistani airstrike in Kabul earlier this week. Afghan Taliban forces attacked multiple Pakistani posts, claiming to have captured three positions, while Pakistani officials said their military destroyed several Afghan posts in retaliation. Pakistani authorities described the firing from Afghanistan as unprovoked and said they responded “with full force.” The clashes occurred at more than six locations along the border. Video footage released by Pakistani officials showed gunfire and artillery illuminating the night sky as both sides exchanged fire.
