Why Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s Antilia doesn’t have air-conditioning? The lavish mansion is cooled with…
Billionaire Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s Antilia is one of the most expensive private homes in the world, with an estimated market value of Rs 15,000 crore. But did you know that the lavish mansion does not use conventional air-conditioning for cooling?
Here’s how the Ambani family’s palatial abode is cooled during Mumbai’s searing summer heat;
Why Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia doesn’t use AC?
The rumor about the uber-luxurious Antilia lacking AC stems from an incident narrated by actress Shreya Dhanwantri, when she was one of the fifty models shooting for designer Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla inside the lavish house. Shreya revealed that she felt chilly inside the Antilia and asked manager of the Ambani house to adjust the AC temperature, to which he replied that it was not possible to adjust manually.
The claim about Antilia not having an AC is not entirely correct, but its entirely wrong either, because the Ambani house does not have traditional air conditioning with an outdoor unit. According to reports, this was deliberate on part of the Ambanis to preserve the mansion’s unique aesthetics.
How is Antilia cooled?
The Antilia employs a centralized AC system, where the temperature is controlled based on the marble, flowers, plants, and other elements inside the lavish mansion home. The manager told Shreya that the marble and the flowers in the mansion need to be kept at a specific temperature and the AC auto-adjusts according to various locations inside the house.
How much is Antilia’s monthly electricity bill?
Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s Antilia mansion is a towering skyscraper with 27 floors, nine elevators, three helipads, and a parking space that can easily accommodate at least 160 vehicles. Additionally, the Antilia is home to more than 600 employees, including gardeners, cooks, plumbers, and in-house electricians, who work for the Ambani family and keep the gigantic building running.
Apart from this, all rooms inside the lavish mansion are equipped with high-tech state-of-the-art facilities. Thus, it not a surprise that something of Antilia’s size and proportions requires a large amount of electricity to operate smoothly.
According to various media reports, Mukesh Ambani pays an monthly electricity bill of around Rs 70 lakh, with a discount of Rs 48,354, for his Antilia mansion, with the structure’s elevated parking facility and high-end air conditioning features consuming the most amount of power.
Each room in the Antilia consumes an average of 300 units, while the median consumption of the entire structure is around 6,37,240 per month, which is equivalent to the monthly electricity consumption of about 7000 middle-class households in Mumbai.
