NTA announces UGC NET 2025 exam dates: Check examination dates and other details here

UGC NET 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC-NET 2025 examinations from December 31 of this year to January 7, 2026. The NET exam comprises two papers – Paper A and Paper B, conducted in a computer-based test (CBT). 

The last date to apply for the exam is November 7, along with a mandatory application fee. It determines the eligibility for the designation of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in colleges and universities. How to register for the exam?

Candidates can apply for the exams by following a few simple steps mentioned below.

  1. Visit the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  2. Click on “Registration For UGC NET DEC 2025
  3. Click on “New Registration” if you’re a new user or log in if you’re already a registered user
  4. Fill out the application form
  5. Pay the application fee
  6. You’ll be registered for the NET exam

What’s the application fee?

For the candidates belonging to the General or unreserved categories, the mandatory application fee is Rs. 1,150; for those who belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and OBC-NCL, the fee is Rs. 600, and for the students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Person with Disability (PwD), Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), application fee is Rs. 325.

What’s the format of exam?

The exam consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2, with multiple choice questions (MCQs). Paper 1 is of 50 questions and 100 marks, which is common for all students. On the other hand, Paper 2 focuses on subject-specific knowledge and has 100 questions. There’s no negative marking for this exam. 

Candidates have to complete the exam in 180 minutes.
