New Delhi: In a major development, Adani Group’s company, Adani Defence and Aerospace, has entered into an agreement with Hyderabad-based MTAR Technologies Limited. According to a Business Standard quoting sources, the company is competing for a Rs 15,000 crore contract to develop the prototype of India’s first stealth fighter jet, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
MTAR Technologies is a supplier of components for the defense and aerospace sectors.
It is important to note that an official announcement regarding this consortium has not yet been made The Adani Group declined to comment on the matter. MTAR Technologies is a precision engineering company that designs and manufactures high-precision components and critical assemblies for sectors such as clean energy, nuclear, space, and defense.
Here are some of the key details:
- The major clients of MTAR Technologies include Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- MTAR has supplied propulsion and electro-pneumatic subsystems for ISRO’s Chandrayaan-2 and Mangalyaan missions
- MTAR has manufactured complex assemblies for DRDO, including those used in the Agni series of missiles.
- Last month, seven contenders responded to the Expression of Interest (EOI) issued in June by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), the design agency for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
- The EOI sought to shortlist Indian companies capable of developing a prototype of the stealth jet and assisting in its testing and certification.
- The last date for submitting responses to the EOI was September 30.
Other major contenders include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Forge, Tata Group’s aerospace and defence arm Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), and Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
