CM Yogi announces Gomti Rejuvenation Mission, know the complete plan here

Yogi Adityanath: The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, launched the Gomti Rejuvenation Mission on Sunday. The objective of the mission is a smooth flow of the river without interruptions. In addition, the target is to intercept 95 per cent of urban sewage that enters the river. 

CM Yogi Adityanath made this announcement during a meeting held on Sunday with the Territorial Army. The concerned officials have been directed to conduct frequent review meetings and submit progress reports on a quarterly basis. Yogi stated that the required resources will be made readily available for the mission to avoid any shortage.

What’s the mission about?

The Chief Minister, after meeting the Gomti Task Force, reviewed the ongoing progress of the Gomti River Rejuvenation Mission. This initiative is led by the UP government for the restoration of the Gomti River under the National Mission for Clean Ganga. 

How will the mission get implemented?

The implementation of the Gomti Rejuvenation Mission will include the collaboration of the territorial army, which will be functioning under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), which is further a part of the larger NMCG project.

The official statement:

The official statement read, “The action plan will cover the entire river basin from Pilibhit to Ghazipur, with the objective to restore the water body to its “clean, uninterrupted, and pristine form.”

The officials stated about the 39 drains that merge into rivers, and almost 13, untreated. The rejuvenation plan will make sure the proper treatment is carried out.

The Central Command of the Indian Army tweeted, “The Hon’ble CM appreciated the initiatives and directed formation of an inter-departmental committee for coordinated action to restore the sacred River Gomti to its pristine glory.”
