Kerala Box Office collection weekend update: 'Kantara: Chapter 1' and 'Ravanaprabhu' dominate; Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra stays solid
The two new releases, Feminichi Fathima and Avihitham, have taken very low starts respectively at the Kerala Box Office. Ravanaprabhu, re-release of the 2001 Mohanlal blockbuster, has comfortably dominated the two new releases with a sensational opening across all releasing centers.
In its opening three-day weekend, Ravanaprabhu has grossed an astounding Rs 2.30 crore at the Kerala Box Office. Meanwhile, Feminichi Fathima has only grossed Rs 14 lakh while Avihitham is doing slightly better with Rs 26 lakh gross. Clearly, the audience are preferring a re-release film over the new releases at the moment.
The topper at the Kerala Box Office, however, continues to be Kantara: Chapter 1 which is having a juggernaut run in Kerala, as is the case with the film across India and worldwide. The Rishab Shetty-starrer has grossed Rs 43 crore in Kerala, including Rs 10 crore across this weekend. It is on track to complete Rs 50 crore in this week and is aiming for a Rs 70-75 crore lifetime collection in the state, if not more.
The other Dussehra release, Idli Kadai, is a big disaster at the Kerala Box Office, grossing just Rs 99 lakh across 12 days. The Dhanush-starrer has incurred major releases for the distributors. Meanwhile, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra had another solid weekend to zoom past Rs 120 crore gross in Kerala. On Sunday (October 12), it also breached the coveted Rs 300 crore gross worldwide.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra remained the third favourite for audiences in Kerala as it grossed Rs 94 lakh in this weekend. The othe releases were all of negligible impact at the box office with Shane Nigam's Balti being the only notable contributor with Rs 52.50 lakh in the weekend. The film, though, has only grossed RS 8.66 crore in 17 days and is a flop due to high costs involved.
