Childrens’ park, Bidkiyar Lake, symbol of neglect, says Kaithal MLA Surjewala
Kaithal MLA Aditya Surjewala on Monday visited children’s park and Bidkiyar Lake and expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of these once popular recreational sites. “Once considered the pride of Kaithal, the children park and Bidkiyar Lake have now turned into symbols of neglect and administrative apathy under the BJP rule,” said Surjewala after the visit.
Calling the situation a “blot on Kaithal’s beauty,” Surjewala reprimanded MC officials and directed them to take immediate corrective action.
During his visit, the MLA found the children’s park littered with garbage, broken swings, defunct lights, and dilapidated walking paths. The toilets were unhygienic and water supply was severely lacking. At the lake, water was found to be heavily polluted and foul-smelling, while the absence of cleaning and maintenance had made the area unsafe and uninviting for families and children.
“These places were once the pride of Kaithal and symbols of progress during the Congress government under the leadership of Randeep Singh Surjewala,” Aditya Surjewala said while speaking to mediapersons. “Cleanliness, development, and beauty were the hallmarks of that time. But today, under the BJP rule, everything has been reduced to ruins.”
He accused the BJP government and the MC of indulging in “photo-opportunity instead of real work,” alleging that development in Kaithal has come to a standstill. “Under the Congress, Kaithal ranked among the cleanest and most developed towns. Now, under the BJP’s governance, the city’s shine has completely faded,” he said.
He directed the MC officials to ensure immediate restoration of facilities by removal of garbage and regular cleaning, providing of clean drinking water, repair of toilets and lighting systems, restoration of footpaths and swings.
He warned that if improvements were not visible soon, strict action would be taken against those responsible.
