Vande Bharat Speed: Indian Railways has entered a new era of technology and safety. A successful trial of the Vande Bharat Express (with Kavach system) was conducted between Gaya and Sarmatand stations at a speed of 160 km/h.
This trial has accelerated the pace of development of East Central Railway and opened up new possibilities for the operation of Rajdhani, Duronto, and other superfast trains.
This trial was conducted on approximately 88 km of track with the cooperation of the General Manager of East Central Railway, the Principal Chief Signal and Telecommunications Engineer, Hajipur, and the DDU-Dhanbad Division.
Currently, the maximum speed of trains on the Delhi-Howrah route is 130 km/h, but plans are underway to increase this speed to 160 km/h. Preparations are also underway to operate trains at a speed of 160 km/h from Gaya Junction to Pradhankhanta.
A special feature of this trial was that an Italian technical team participated and was satisfied with the testing process. This has brought global recognition to Indian Railways’ safety system. Initially, trials were conducted with a single engine for two days, then with an MT rake of 10 HLB coaches and finally with the MT rake of Vande Bharat.
Chief Communications Engineer Ajit Kumar and Deputy Chief Engineer (Signal and Telecommunications) Rajesh Kumar Kushwaha were responsible for this high-speed project. These officers were assigned special responsibility for this important Kavach scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister.
Senior DOM of Dhanbad Division, Anjay Tiwari, Senior DOM of DDU Division, Keshav Anand, and Sudhanshu Ranjan of Danapur Division also played a significant role in the success of the trial. With their support, the necessary rakes and resources were made available for the trial.
Good News for Rail Passengers
With this success, railway passengers will soon experience a fast, safe, and state-of-the-art journey. The 160 km/h speed is not just a trial, but the beginning of a new journey for Indian Railways.
In the future, this speed could reach 200 km/h, making train travel a truly airplane-like experience. According to information received from railway sources, the railway has begun preparations for trials at a speed of 180 km/h in the Ghat section.
It should be noted that the Railways is preparing to operate trains from Delhi to Howrah via Koderma at a speed of 160 km/h. To achieve this, the Railways has erected walls on both sides of the line from Howrah via Dhanbad, Koderma, DDU to Delhi to prevent animals or people from crossing the tracks while trains are running.
